This is a common question for those of us working in the independent consultancy market. It’s a tough business, a recent survey calculated the number of independent consultants working in the UK to be in excess of 100,000. So why did I decide to leave ‘corporate life’ and become an independent consultant? The answer is simple; I’m passionate about UK industry and I wanted to meet a new challenge—to develop my own business and to make it a success by helping other businesses succeed. By operating on a much broader stage I can fulfil ambitions that are inevitably stifled by working full-time within one organisation and I can work exclusively on the basis of my own values. I can also bring my extensive experience to bear in a range of different companies both large and small.
